I. A. N. Chapter #2 - The Fall of Jack and Liam, by Liam

Hey party people. Liam here with Chapter 2 of I. A. N. Enjoy!

Chapter 2: The Fall of Jack and Liam.

Liam Hefted The Bitch-o-tron and turned to Jack. "Let's do this." With a mighty swing, the Bitch-o-tron made contact with one of the leaping robots in mid-air. The robot clattered to the floor and its glowing red eyes faded and blinked out. "Huh", shrugged Liam, "That was easy."
"Yo, a little help?" Cried Jack who was battling with his own maniacal machine. The knife-broom had been snapped in half and was now being wielded by the robot whose attention was solely focused on Jack.
Liam rolled his eyes. "How did that happen?"
"These bastards are fast!" Jack dodged a deadly bladed thrust.
"Mine's dead."
"Bullshit!" Jack yelled incredulously. "Already?"

"Bitch-o-tron strikes again!" Liam heroically rose the Bitch-o-tron above his head, completely oblivious to the fact that the fallen robot's eyes had sparked back to life. With calculated precision the machine snatched at Liam, tearing out his Achilles tendon. Liam's eyes bulged in pain as he fell into unconsciousness.
"Liam, get the fuck up and help me," roared Jack, ducking another thrust and rolling across the dusty floor. Before he could spring to his feet the robot had moved with lightning speed, thrusting the knife end of the broom-knife into Jack's shoulder, and the splintered wooden half into his neck. Blood gurgled in Jack's throat and dribbled into his beard as he stared at the machine that was rapidly ending his life.
"You humans are pathetic," beeped the robot as Jack fell to his knees. It reached out a metallic hand and grasped the wooden shaft sticking out of Jack's neck, then slowly began to twist. The pain was excruciating. "Are you prepared to die, puny human?"
Jack gritted his teeth. "Fu-"
"Incorr-" The robots metallic voice was drowned out by an explosion. Before Jack lost consciousness he saw two flashes of red, and then darkness engulfed him.

-------

Liam awoke to a strange tingling sensation in his foot. "Do not move," beeped a familiar metallic voice.
"What are you doing to me?" Liam struggled to move but found he was restrained. It felt like he was lying on a hard wooden table.
"Repairs. Do not move."
"Oh cut the bullshit, why don't you just kill me?"
"You are mistaken. You will be repaired." A chrome skull with glowing red eyes appeared beside Liam. "You are safe. Rest now, I fear your friend will not be repaired so easily."
Ice cold fear struck Liam. "Jack... what happened to him?"
"He died. Now, you will sleep."
Liam felt a sharp prick in his arm followed by the comfortable nothingness of a dreamless sleep.

-------

Several days passed before Liam awoke. He groggily shook his head as strange memories swam before his vision. He remembered robots. He remembered losing. He remembered pain. Liam sat up quickly, no longer restrained, and looked at his foot. His eyes widened as realization dawned on him - his foot was missing. At least, his human foot was missing, replaced by a metallic replica. He wiggled his toes with ease, and marveled at the machinery.
"You are repaired."
Liam hadn't even noticed the two glowing red eyes staring at his from the shadows. "Why? So you can kill me?" No, that didn't make any sense. "Answer me!"
"You are my only hope. You, and your friend."
"Oh shit, Jack! How is he?"
"He is repaired."

Relief washed over Liam. "How? I remember... you said he died?"
"Correct. I repaired him."
"Can I see him?"
"He is sleeping. His repairs were challenging."
"Take me to him, now," Liam growled. He swung his legs over the side of the table, and one foot made a soft padded sound while the other clanged loudly. "Now."
"Very well. Follow me." The robot walked past Liam and pushed open a door. "In here. Come."

Liam stormed past the robot to see his friend passed out on the cold stone floor. Well, it sort of looked like his friend, except there was something not quite right. Liam narrowed his eyes, trying to figure out what was different about Jack. Then he noticed it. His head. "Tell me what happened. Tell me everything."
"I was held captive by two Mechazoids. They are bastards. You and your friend fought them. You and your friend lost. Your Achilles tendon was removed. I am no surgeon, but I tried to fix it. I could not, so I replaced your foot. How does it feel?"
"Fine. Now tell me about him."
"He suffered grievous wounds. He needed a neck replacement. I am no surgeon, but I tried to fix it. I could not, so I replaced his neck. His head would not reattach. I replaced that too."

"Fuck me," whispered Liam. "So he's...a robot?"
"No. I managed to reattach his brain. It was not easy. I am no surgeon, but he will probably keep his memories. And his humanity. Sadly he has lost his beard."
A silent tear fell from Liam's eye. "Goddamit he loved that beard. Will it-" Liam choked back the tears. "Will it grow back?"
The robot stood motionless.
"Answer me!" Anger was welling up inside Liam.

"In time."
Jack stirred, his robot head lolling from side to side. One eye slowly opened. "Liam... what... what happened?"
"He still sounds like Jack!" Cried Liam, relieved.

"Affirmative. I programmed his voice in accordance with his vocal chords. Would you like to keep his head? I had to hollow it out. For research."
"Umm...... I don't really want to, but we'll let Jack decide on that. How you doing buddy?" Liam knelt down beside his friend.

"I'm confused man. Whose head is hollowed out? Where are those robot fucks? Did you kill them?" Jack looked like Jack at least, although without his beard his face looked a little wrong.
Then again, Liam supposed that it's unsurprising Jack's robot head looked a little wrong. But it was robotic. And they were both alive. "Let's get you feeling better. I think we've made a new friend."
"Affirmative!" And both Liam and Jack noticed that the robot's metallic beeping voice somehow sounded happy.

That concludes the second chapter to I. A. N. What'll happen next? Well, that's for Jack to decide. His starting sentence for chapter number three is:

Liam filled Jack in on what had happened, with some help from their new robot friend, but there was one burning question that Jack just could not ignore.

Smell ya later! Good luck Jack!

Liam (not Jack)
